| Re: Medicaid/Medicare dual eligibility and Prescriptions
I'm wondering what will happen with my medicaid in
2010.When I got on SSDI in 2008 they said I can't
get on Medicare for 2 yrs. They only let me stay on
Medicaid if I pay them any amount of my SSDI that
is over the 867 limit they let me keep. Now I pay
$261 which goes towards my COPES program I'm on.
Someone comes in 3 times a week and does housework, runs
errands,washes my hair,etc.
My medical machines and doc visits run over $5000 a month.
Only med I take is cheap, less than $20 month. On other hand,
my test strips and lancets for diabetes is around $130 a month.
I control my diabetes by testing like I should and eating right.
I've heard Medicare will not pay for diabetes supplies unless
A1C tests are a certain number like 7 something.I've managed to
keep my A1C at a lower number because of my willingness to
eat right, testing daily, and find food alternatives.I'd hate to
mess my body up and have to get on diabetes meds.
Does anyone know anything about Washington State and staying on
Medicaid while on Medicare?
