SSI benefits

I was recently awarded SSDI and SSI benefits by a judge. I just received a letter denying me SSI benefits because I'm receiving to much workcomp benefits. When and if I settle my case with workcomp can I receive SSI benefits? and if so am I going to have to start the whole SSI process over again and see a judge? Thank you

Re: SSI benefits

You stated you were approved for SSDI AND SSI. You can receive Workers’ Compensation and Social Security Disability at the same time, up to a combined benefit of 80% of the income you were earning before you became disabled.

Once they settle your work comp case, your SSDI won't have to coordinate with work comp any more and you will receive the benefit approved for as if work comp doesn't exist. You wouldn't have to file again.

SSI is bascially for the lower income bracket. I dont' know how much your SSDI benefit is and if you would fall into that lower income bracket. You can discuss that with your local SS office.

Good luck with your work comp case!
