I think social security is doing this so they don't really have to pay anyone money. And my son has hardly any clothes but anyway. After my son was diagnosed with crohn's disease and so maybe after one month I filed for SSI they did not approve him then first time like they mostly do.So I got a lawyer she told it would take about a year but it actually took 2 years and so we got a hearing we went to the hearing. And the judge did approve for monthly benefits and 2 and a half years of backpay. Then the lawyer said it would take 6 months to get the decision in writing. So we were ok with that but it actually took 9 months. And then after she and I got the letter she said you should expect the check in the mail within six weeks so we waited six week still no check I gave her a call she said that she had just learned. That they may put it in a dedicated account is this true she hasn't seen received her payment form ssi either?
Re: Do all minors have to open a dedicated account?
The answer is yes. The back pay has to go to a dedicated account even if there was a lawyer. There are rules for how you can spend the back pay. You have to follow those rules. You have to keep records of how you spent the money. You have to make a report to SSI at the end of the year. You have to tell them how you spent the money and you have to be able to prove it.
