OR go and call the 1-800 number. It is very simple to do.
This is incorrect. Disabled children on SSI will also receive it. Children who are receiving monthly payments due to dependent benefits, will not receive this one time payment.

Exclamation Re: Stimulus checks for the disabled

When I started this thread it was to point out that recipients of SSDI & SSI will be receiving a one-time stimulus check of $250. It is FACT.
Retirees on Social Security may or may not (I think NOT) receive a stimulus check, but it will not be the $250 check I've been referring to.
I re-read the passage Director mentioned & the "55 million" refers to SSDI & SSI recipients. He may have been thrown off by the deletion of "DI."
There was a question/answer on one site where somebody asked if he, a retiree living on SS, would receive a stimulus check--the reply was "no, not unless he was disabled." I G--gled "Social Security retiree stimulus checks" & everything that came up was about the $250 one-time payment to disabled people.
I guess once the checks begin arriving, we will all know for sure.

Re: Stimulus checks for the disabled

What if your parent was receiving social security in November 2008, but has since passed away. Does his estate still get the money?

Re: Stimulus checks for the disabled

There are some Q&As on the Justice for All website by (you guessed it) Allsup that clarifies some of the same issues mentioned here. I wonder also if the $300 you got on your taxes this year, if not eligible for last year's stimulus will knock out this award. I did a search for the stimulus summer 2009 veterans, retirees and found the link.

Additional thought: Allsup website has some info on their news page that goes into detail about this one-time payment.
