I was approved for SSDI in October 2008 back to 2005. I also received letters stating I had been approved for SSI for 5 months (June - October 2008). I received backpay for SSI then for SSDI.

Here is my issue/confusion:

In TN, there is something called the Pickle Program. The way I understand it is, if I am simultaneously eligible to receive SSI AND SSDI in SOME month afer April 1977 then I will continue to have Medicaid in addition to my Medicare.

The state is telling me that I am no longer eligible for Medicaid since I am no longer receiving SSI. I disagree with this based on the Pickle Program.

Since I did receive letters from both SSI and SSDI that I had been approved. Then SSI pays me for 5 months AND SSDI pays me the balance for those 5 months PLUS they both paid backpay, I should be eligible for the Pickle Program.

Am I understanding this correctly that I actually was simultaneously eligible based on the above?

This is really big for me. I will end up having to pay for a supplement and have additional medical bills without having Medicaid supplementing my Medicare.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
