A friend told me ss is no longer giving out your back pay in one large payment is this true?

As of June backpay was being paid out in lump sum

SSI does not pay in one large sum, it pays in installments. SSDI pays out all at once. These are two different programs. Many people confuse them .

this is true SSI pays in three installments and they have a limit on what they can pay you on the first 2 of them then the rest comes on the third...i just got approved on march 5th and have had an attorney and been talking to a case worker who was very nice i will be seeing my first monthly payment on august 1st and not sure the exact date of the first installment...but a tip to help you the case worker who's doing mine told me this...she said if you have any bills that are late or anything fax them in to your case worker and they can try to get you more money on the first installment to help with your bills...ask your case worker about this...i'm glad she told me and she said not alot of people know they can do this....hope this helps!!!
