Has any 1 applied for unemployment while waitng for SSDI /SSI?

Hello I live in Ohio and was told to stop working in April 2009 my medical benefits stopped in June I applied for unemployment and ssdi/ssi I was denied 4 times for unemployment I fill out all the questionare and sent in proof of everything even proof I filed for disability, after I been denied the 4th time I gave up hope until yesterday 08/10/2009 I got in the mail my appeal was changed and I am allowed unemployment payments. I am hopeing for back pay because i was denied 4 times which will be 9 weeks because unemployment pay weekly. when I recieve the letter I was about to throw it away with out opening it because I thought it was a letter reminding me that my time to appeal is almost up. If they was not going to help I did not know what to do because I was told that notification of approval or not approve will be around December, because they have to gather my medical reports and information from my employer to make their determination. But I am so glad to get approved for unemployment income I didn't want to go to welfare they will take away my little child support payments and I need to catch up on my debt. who ever read this I appreciate your time and moment of reading my post Thank you very much

okay you may want to be careful because to get unemployment you must be able and ready to work. which wouldnt conenside with SS, you may want to call and check that out at your local SSoffice

Your also suppose to be trying to be job hunting, placing out job applications too. Were you working full time?
If you are medically impaired severely enough not to go back to work anymore, then your best alternative is to file for full term disability. Just remember that Social Security only pays for those people who are completely disabled , and for long term disabilty, at least 12 months. It can be a long wait to be approved for your claim .
It depends on how much you were working if Social Security would allow you to collect unemployment benifits and for how long you recieve these benifits . I agree with the above poster. Call SS .

Re: Has any 1 applied for unemployment while waitng for SSDI /SSI?

the one thing i can tell you just based upon the fact that they do actually tell you that they will cross reference ALL govt databases,is if you are actually ON unemployment right now, and considered to be healthy/able bodied enough to be looking for work, you will NOT even be eligable for ssd/ssi at all. at least not until your unemployment runs out and you reapply. you kind of have to go with one OR the other here, they will not grant you both only because of the totally different circumstances of what even gives you the eligability to go with either one, you know what i mean? one simply means that you CAN work and are actually out there seeking work and the other means you just cannot work. i would be very very careful here if i were you. just do not 'do' anything with the ssd til well after your unemplyment runs out or they could catch you and charge you with some level of govt fraud. like i mentioned at the very top, they tell you right in the forms you fill out that they just DO cross check all govt databases using your SS#.

the other thing i am wondering is about actually even getting back pay with unemployment at all? i know when i had to go on unemployment way back before my medical hell began, i was told to get it done asap since i would actually 'lose' weeks the longer i took to get this done and filed. you may want to check on that one too. i just do not think they actually do that with unemplyment unless its some sort of extenuating type of circumstance?
