I had seen a few people mention asking their congressmen and/or senators for help. I found it remarkably easy to do an online form for request to each of their offices, including a drop down menu that I could choose "Social Security" as the topic. I quickly laid out my SSDI timeline (application, denial, reconsideration currently), reasons I can't work, and asked for assistance in expediting approval. Not sure if it will help or if I'll hear back but VERY easy to do it all on line (appears to be a standard process as I got the same form for the congressman and each senator)

That is really good to know SpineAZ. I have heard a lot of people writing personal letters to their local congressmen for support, in obtaining a approval. They usually get a good response back , and it speeds up hearings for social security. Anther thing people do is request a compassionet allowance. Best wishes to you, SpineAZ . You deserve it! I was lucky enough to win at the reconsideration level a few yrs ago . But, if I have to go that route I would not hesitate.
I had one senator that had a problem with the form (instead of showing the form it's showing the programming code) and I bet that'll be fixed by the morning. So I took that phone number and will call them tomorrow.
Does writing your local congressmen/senators help mainly to speed up the process, or do you think in some cases it can actually cause a case to get approved (that would normally get denied, perhaps unfairly)?
I don't know what they can do. But, since my attorney filed the reconsideration in December and as of last update it's "in review " I figured maybe the congressman or senators can have an impact to push it to the top of the list, have it get a little push, etc.

Like I said before think they helped me win my case but my Congress woman's called me twice first time to say that they would look into it second time after I got approved and ask me if everything was ok. But I hope they can help you to.
