Is there anyone out there living in Ontario that has some background knowledge with CPP Disabilty ?
I have just applied with the following conditions:
Degenerative Disk Disease - Lumbar spine (severe pain, all day, everyday) (Bone spurs in spine with mild diffuse buldging disk)
Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (CPAP used nightly)
Diabetes Mellitus (just diagnosed this month)
GERD (taking medication daily)
Depression (approx. 20 years and taking medication daily)
Obesity (currently going through the motions of getting gastric bypass surgery)
I am a 42 year old woman. No kids and living at home. Wondering if you could tell me what my chances are for being granted CPP Disabilty Pension, based on my above mentioned conditions. I am in chronic pain daily. Most days can not walk more than 5-6 steps and my back get so tight and pain ful I can barely walk. Sitting more than 10 minutes my back goes numb and my buttocks get sharp pains.

Hello Dadsangel, I am from Ontario and I am 52 yrs old. Feb/26/09 I under went a 3 level ACDF(neck surgery)which was not successful(double crush syndrome) and was dx with TOS, I also have lumbar issues L3-4-5 are herniated and bulging. Since my surgery I suffer daily with chronic pain. In Dec 2010 I filed for CPP-Disability which they define disabilites to be severe and prolonged, both my family Dr and my Neuro surgeon fill out the medical forms along with every MRI reports, specialist reports every test that backed up what my Drs diagnoised and in March 2011 I was approved, if your Family Dr believes you are no longer able to work due to medical issues and your medical issues are prolonged and severe and he fills out the required medical forms in detail you may have a chance, just make sure he writes that your illness is severe and prolonged, good luck and take care,

Hi Everyone,
So today I received a phone call from Service Canada Canadian Pension Plan Disability and was DENIED my claim. I was kind of expecting it as I've heard and read that the first attempt you are pretty much guaranteed to be denied. However, I am still saddened and worried. The lady told me that because of my back issues, it is NOT seen as severe and prolonged. As well, because I have only gone as far as my family doctor, that my last mri was in 2009 and that I'm only taking tylenol #2's for my pain, it is not severe. She also, condescendingly stated that perhaps I should lose a bit of weight!! Wow...I understand these people are government employees but have a little diplomacy and tact!! In any case, I have contacted my family Dr. to schedule another MRI as I'm 100% sure my condition has worsened since 2009 and want it documented on a recent MRI. What irritates me the most is that I have been on my Dr's back for months and months to refer me to a rheumatologist to see if there is something they can do to help my back and he has always brushed me off with "there is nothing they can do, I'm sure alot of it is the weight and once you have your gastric bypass you will feel alot better!" Ummm, I'm sure I will feel alittle nd better, but there is NO way, I'm sure of it, that it will help me with the osteoarthritis, buldging disk and my ability to walk more than 20 steps without my back going out on me....or even be able to wipe myself!!! My back LOCKS...period!! It will not bend enough for me to even tie my shoes. I am definetly appealing the decision, however, can any one of you give me tips on how to write an appeal letter and what I can say in this letter? I'm not good at writing letters. Help?? Anyone? I appreciate it. thanks and hope everyone is having a great day!!!
