For those that don't remember, I had my hearing with the ALJ in February. I've been waiting for a decision for just over 6 months. I finally called my attorney's office yesterday, and politely but assertively asked them to find out why there's being such a delay. The paralegal said, Oh sure I'd be happy to call and find out what's going on. She never did call me back, so I called her back today. She said, Oh..yes I called. Your case is still with the judge. Gee thanks, I already knew that. I wanted to know if there's a problem or something holding up the decision. Sorry guys, sometimes you just need to vent a little. Am I expecting too much from my attorney's office?

No, not at all! I am nowhere as far along as some. And I too feel as though I am, constantly following up with my lawyer. This board gives me back my sanity. Venting is healthy for ones mind! Hang tough!

Itralian1, I thought from reading your other posts that you were already approved?
Pme so sorry to hear you haven't gotten a decision yet, 6 months is a really long delay. IIRC twizted and unknown had to wait a long time before their decision. You are not expecting too much from your attorney's office. If she could have at least initiated a phone call and told you truthfully she has no more info except that it is on the judges' desk, I'll bet it would give you more confidence that at least they are keeping track of your case. But to have to call them, that is frustrating. Perhaps you can call them again and explain it is making you anxious, you would like to know where your case is and how can you find out.
That is a long wait time. I would of done the same thing as you. You are not asking too much. The wait time is awful ! I hope you will hear good news soon. At the least that lady should have called you back. that is unprofessional.
I keep telling myself that surely it's got to be any day now. The waiting is agony. I am really thinking it will be a denial because it's taking so long. Thanks for the responses, I appreciate them.

It is frustrating and I think that's part of SSA's job description is to be as annoying and frustrating as they can be lol (j/k) The waiting is what's killing me also; makes me go through so many emotions it's not good for my mental state.
I always feel so bad when I read others are going through what I've gone through and worse...I can't imagine what would hold up the process of a judge saying yes or no with facts right in front of them. I think part of it is they're so backlogged and have so many cases; the system really needs a tweaking and major overhaul.
i can see waiting 6 weeks, not 6 months no way there is no sense in that.i know if you have an attorney they dont want you to call them, but id be burning up ssa phone for some answers.imo hope you hear some good news to.
NO, you're not expecting too much from your attorney's office. I don't see why it needs to take this long for you to get a decision. Try to look at it this way though....No news is good news. I received a denial & received it very quickly. Don't think what happened to me is going to happen to you...I have a real long drawn out complicated case I would bet you don't have which is also good news for you. If your case is still on the judge's desk this means you really could be approved fully favorable. I hope you will be.
