Delays at the hearing level

I just got off the phone with my attorney's office. I was speaking to them about it being 7 months since my hearing, with no decision yet. The guy I spoke with told me that they are starting to see longer and longer delays for decisions (at least at the Kansas City region) due to the recent government issues. So it sounds like they are taking a longer, closer look at the appeals claims than ever before. Not the most encouraging news, but thought I would share it.

But which 'recent gov't issues'? We've had too many so I'm not sure which one you/your atty are talking about.

Thanks

Thanks for sharing pme. 7 months is outrageous to keep you waiting on pins and needles IMHO after your hearing. Yes, claims are starting to be scrutinized more but 7 months>>>>>>that is insane. This sounds more like backlog to me than claim appeal scrutinization. Hang in there gal pal.

Thanks BlueSkies. He also said that according to my file, they are expecting a favorable decision, but I am not going to get my hopes up!

I saw it a couple months ago and some people on here did not believe me bu I told them it is going to get a heck of allot harder to get ssdi and ssi in the future. And they are under heavy preasure to step up the cdr process because some in congress said that there are to many people on ssdi and ssi who should not be on it anymore.

Even with CD'rs it is difficult for people to get disapproved once on social security. Unless they have not follwed up with Dr's appointments. If they revamp the system and require more strciter rules on applying things will probably remain the same. It will be interesting what happens . ijust called the DDS worker about my sons claim and he said no decision has been made, it is too early . He told me a month of wait time just to know for a intial claim. I know that is a longer wait time. I am not getting my hopes up either even though he is clearly disabled . the wait times are going to be even longer now, and social securit will deny more and more claims even if they are legit.

That is ok Vann but what I fear is that ppl who are on SSDI who are really disabled might get kicked off too in the process of trying to discover those who are not really disabled.

That could happen to the younger people there the ones that the ssa is concerned about people in there 20,30,and early 40s because they are the bulk of the ssi and. Ssdi system, there is more of them on it. Than people in there 50s and higher.

That's why I wish that when the ssa determines your case at all levels that they would break it down to some examiners do people 50 and over and some do younger because a majority of cases are younger than 50 they should give priority to the older workers first. Now this is only my opinion.

I have to disagree with you on this. That seems to be discriminatory. A person who is 30 years old and truly disabled deserves benefits just as much as an older person. I agree that a lot of younger people are applying for the wrong reasons though.
