Scared!

I wrote a few weeks ago (?) anout my having been on disability for a year now, and it seems they are reviewing my case already. I was sent a rather short list of questions to fill out and send them back.

Well, now I have recieved a long list of questions (8 pages, both sides, so that equals 16 pages of questions, and a couple of days later I had recieved a letter telling me that I was given a date for the end of Sept to see an IME specialist. It doesn't say what kind of specialist.

My case was pretty solid and given an 'on the record' review, never had to see the ALJ. My illness has to do with mainly Spinal Stenosis, very severe in cervial and lumber.....ten vertbrae between the two.

I cannot stand for more than 10 minutes, therefore I need a cane to walk on occasion. The lawyer was not at all concerned about losing the case and assured me no problem....and he was right.

So why are they 'picking on me' right now......only one year after my approval?

I suppose the questionaires are normal from time to time, but is it normal for them to send me to an IME doctore as well?

I am terrified that I am going to lose my disability.

Re: Scared!

I wish I knew what to tell you, but I'm not even approved yet..so I really have no knowledge of the CDR process. I have seen others on here say they are really stepping up the CDR's, trying to find people who shouldn't be on SSDI/SSI. This must be really stressful for you. I sure hope your appointment goes well, and keep us posted.

Re: Scared!

Try and find your orginal approval letter. It should say when your CDR will be. In order to even get approved your disability has to last at least a year or result in death. With the CDR's their are 2 different ones. Often referred to the long form or a short form. I have not had one yet However have read about several people who have. Just answer the questions as truthfully as possible and go to the DR. I am not sure what a IME stands for? I know it is important to do everything Social Security requests. More often then not a person will be fine and proven disabled enough not to work a Substaniel Gainful Activity. It is very difficult for Social Security to deny a person one approved and benefits been recieved. I hope things work out for you just fine because it usually is. Try not to get too stressed out because that will not be good for you.

My approval letter states reevaluation Dec 16, 2011. For this reason I am stressed. I saw my doctor today and he told me that they are surely going after people just to check that they are disabled.....all due to the debt of the country. He feels that my case is documented very well and I 'shouldnt' have anything to worry about, but nothing is etched in stone. just in case though, I finally decided to get those hip xrays I have been putting off, so as to show my body is deteriating. And the woman who took my cervical xrays as well assured me that the crunching in my neck whenever I turn my head is not normal, and not that everyone has it.

I am just so scared. I would never be able to work. Never. My pain is truly there, I am not just one of those who can work but lie to get disability.

Sigh.......sometimes I want to be that little smiley angel and just walk through those pearly gates and help little pets get to the Rainbow Bridge and take care of them.

Dramatic...I know. LOL If you knew me though, you would know that I would much rather be there, then be here.

Independent Medical Examination.

I only know that coz I sometimes had to have an IME when I was working, but out on benefits, to confirm we were actually 'ill'. It is suppose to NOT be their doctor or your doctor, but a 3rd party doctor. It never made sense to me how can it NOT be their doctor when THEY are sending you to them... But that was when I was working and those were da rulez.
