Question Letter from ODAR

I got a letter starting my file is in New Mexico ODAR awaiting a hearing date. I called the hearing office and they said the closet ODAR is in Billings, Montana and that is over 500 miles from me so I said how am I gonna get there?? So now I am waiting a call back to see what the plan is. The letter says I am to have a video conference. Has anyone done a video? I am a little worried if I need to travel to Montana when I live in Idaho. UGH I hate waiting!

Re: Letter from ODAR

No, I don't think you will have to travel to Montana. My hearing was a video hearing too.

In my town, they have a small office in a nearby bank building, that is used for hearings. The vocation expert, the lady recording the hearing, my attorney and I were all around a table in a very small room. The judge was on a HUGE big screen tv, in the same room.

I agree with Gale. They cannot possibly expect you to drive 500 miles away for a video conferance! I took my son to his CE and that was a hour and a half away . I thought that was too far to have to go , but had no choice.

Re: Letter from ODAR

So I just got off the phone with them and they advised me there is a Satelite office in Boise and that is where my hearing will take place. Now does anyone know how much longer after getting a notice stating Im having a video conference.. The letter doesnt have a date for a hearing it just says its in New Mexico waiting for a hearing date. The guy at the Boise ODAR said its a 12 month wait and I said yea its been over a year and he said well it should be anytime now.. He also said there has been a 2 month turn around rate for the decision.

Re: Letter from ODAR

When I got my letter about my hearing, the date was on the letter. My attorney had told me it was a 10 - 12 month wait in my area, and sure enough, I had an 11 month wait.

My attorney had already told me about the video hearings when I first applied, so I already knew that was the type of hearing I would have.

For me, it was a three month wait to get the judge's decision - but I have known others who got the decision in a couple of weeks. I think it depends on the judge.
