I had written that my son was approved for benefits and it was made on the 2nd of this month! I had called the 1-800 number twice that day and was told a decision was made and he was approved.
Well i called today to see if I could find out how much he was to get a month. This time the woman , of course a different woman tells me a decision was made on the 12th ! ANd she was not going to tell me? Even when I let her know I had called last week two different times , two dfferent people, a woman and a man informed me he was approved? The Rep tells me that they are not suppose to say what the decision was .
I am ****** . BUt, I do know that my son's DDS worker is not even in the office right now. He left on the 2nd and is not coming back for a few weeks. So it does not make sense a decision was made on the 12th. I think a decison letter was made on the 12th , and he was approved on the 2nd like the other 2 reps told me.
I DO NOT like these little SSA games . Of course it is making me stressed out and confused by the inconsistent answer. Is SSA really that screwed up?

My wife was approved on July 5th I think and it took about
three weeks to get the info.
Actually the 2 yr "back pay" just appeared in her checking account
or we would have never known!
Forget calling them. I learned that by reading these boards
and saw 50 ppl say they couldn't get a straight answer from SSA.
Check your bank account first!! Daily.
Also if you had other issues like SSI, Worker's comp, dependents it will take longer.
As a last resort call your local congressperson.

mscat40, It just sems like the norm. everyone calling gets different answers different times but the fact two different people said your son got approved twice is promising? I have heard them say before they aren't allowed to say if you get approved but sometimes they do I guess they never tell anyone the were denied. Anyway hang in there this to shall pass and it will be history Yea because your son did get approved Yea.

Yes, I forgot how inconsistent calling the 1-800 number can be! I hate that , it really gets under my skin. But you are right, this is typical. I am sure that if I call today I will hear yet anther story from them. They can really suck over there, and further add to the stress. I am getting a little fed up with checking the mail every single day only to find nothing at all yet.

Hi mscat...thinking you may be able to get claims status update information on their website using your sons confirmation number they would have gave him when he applied. I think its listed under apply for benefits and then click on the status updates, you would enter his confirmation number for him if he is unable to do so. Hope this info is helpful for you both.
