Hi all,
My wife received full disability with Medicare A & B back in July.
She is 61yrs & I am 60. We had a small business together
and I also worked as a courier (independent contractor) on the side.
ALL FICA & SS taxes were paid into her account since she ran the business & I assisted her.
I have seen my SSA benefit amount and I don't have enough credits to receive any retirement income.
I do have other income but it's non payroll so there's no FICA/SSA involved.
Here's my question.
Once I'm 62 supposedly I will qualify to receive "up to 50% her amount."
Anyone know what that means? Is that a ballpark number??
Can I count on 40% at least?
I spend most of my time taking care of her..meds..driving..doctors etc.
We have been married more than 10 yrs.
Thanks for any help!
