Back pay How long a wait?
Hi Everyone, I have a question as to my back pay. I was awarded ssdi 8/1/11 and I will receive my 1st ssdi check 9/28/11. How long does it take to receive my back pay? I keep calling SSA and they state it is being worked on. I have also been told by SSA it usually takes 30-45 days to receive it. I desperately need this lump sum as it is a very large amount. From what I read on this board it vary do you have a direct deposit set up. Some times people get it right away sometimes not I think ssi is given in installments. Yea for your approval

For me, it was just a few days to get my back pay. Make sure they have your correct direct deposit info. Congrats on the approval!!

Be sure to keep checking your bank account. Sometimes the money will 'suddenly" show up in there if you have direct deposit. If you had a Lawyer helping you with your claim he/she will get paid first.
