First let me say how thankful I am to have found this message board !
My husband is 55 on March 8th he suffered his second heart attack in 5 years. This time the heart attack was much more severe and did a great amount of damage to the heart. This prompted a triple bypass, with the placement of three stents and later in July he returned to the hospital to have an ICD put in. We did file for disablity, he had 2 medical physicals this week. I guess that my questions (fears) are how long does it take after the physicals to find out if he was approved and what is the rate of approval for someone his age and with his condition ? Also, he wonders if he should work part time, of course to help with our finances. I told him that 1.) I don't think physically he could work ( he was teaching out our local community college) and 2.) I don't think SS disablity likes you too work. Any information or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
