I was told by the local office that I was approved on Sept. 16, 2011 for both ssi and ssdi. They are doing the figuring now. I have a question,
1. My medical records show disabled in 2008
2. I tried to do some work 2008, 2009, 2010 (only making no more than 3000 per year)
3. Will they take my disability back to 2008 since it is below povety level
4. How long will it take them to send letter and deposit the
money.
5. I don't remember what date I put down, that I was disable
congrats to you. Yea""""" I wish I knew the answers for you but really there is no of knowing until you get your letter. Hang in there your waiting to hear is over Yea....

Thank you, I'm so happy and nervous at the same time. I am getting anxious to know. I called the 800# and they said it was sent to the review board. Is the main office in montgomery the review board. We call it the local office. I have read so many horror stories that my mind is running. Thanks again.

Hi there,
The reeview board is not at your local S.S. office. What that means is someone else will look at your claim and check it for any errors , that may have happened when it was at DDS. It is just to make sure every thing was done correctly. After that your claim will go back to the local S.S. office and they will calculate how much you will recieve a month , then it will go to the payment center. Your backpay will depend on your DAte Of Onset. The date you put on your claim when the disability started. If social security aggrees with the date you could get your backpay from that . Sometimes S.S. will change the date . So when you get your approval letter check and see . As long as your work attempts were not SGA S.S. will not count that. It does not have to do with poverty. It has to do with your DAte Of Onset. When S.S obtained your medical records and if their is evidence you were treated all the way in 08 then S.S will count it .Since your claim went to review it could take anther couple months , try not to worry . My claim went into review after a approval too , and nothing was changed.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. But when I called the local office they did not tell me that it was at the review board. They stated it was approved and I should receive something in 2 wks. It was in the calculation stage. They did not know what the amount was or what the onset date was. So what do you think?

I must have misunderstood this ?
Since it is being calculated that means it is at your local field office and after that it will go to the payment center for processing.
It all depends on if medical records support being disabled as of 2008. If the first records they have that show disability are dated 2009 or 2010 then the benefits would begin no sooner than the first proof of disability (not the date the records are recevied/reviewed but the date on the records. So a doctor saying "disabled back to 2008" doesn't mean anything if the records submitted start in 2009)
