Basic medicare covers only 80%. That will leave you with 20% out of pocket expenses. Many people seem happy with just basic medicare. Many people opt for the medicare part C plans offered by private insurers who have been approved by medicare to provide this coverage. I don't know too much about these medicare advantage plans and how much cost savings they provide for the premium you pay for them.
