We're getting a raise!

I hope this is the appropriate forum to post this in. I read that we will get a raise in January of 3.5-3.7%. We'll know for sure tomorrow on the percent. Unfortunately if they take out medicare on you, it's going up too, but they haven't said how much yet. Still, this is good news!

Re: We're getting a raise!

I have heard about the COLA increase for 2012. IF it passes tommorow it would give everyone on disablity $41.00 extra each month. However, this amount could be eaten up by medicare expenses. We have not had a COLA increase in two years. So hopfully we will get it.

Re: We're getting a raise!

vann04>>>>>LadyVols>>>>>mscat40>>>>> Every little bit does help but if you gain a little on the monthly SSDI benefit but lose about the same amount on an increase in medicare premium or less things that medicare will pay for/cover, the net result is zero so you really have not gained much. I suppose it makes you feel good, warm, and fuzzy until you really analyze everything. LOL

Re: We're getting a raise!

Does this change anything for people who have not received benefits yet?

Nope it is for people who are on it already, when and if you get approved the raise will be factor in to your monthly amount.

Re: We're getting a raise!

I thought so. I am still hoping to get my benefits started before the year ends but we will see. I am glad to see they are finally giving a cost of living increase after 2 years of nothing

Re: We're getting a raise!

It won't do me any good they are going to raise the amount you have to pay for Medicare so in all reality it is not a raise.

Actually people on SSI will only recieve $18 extra and the newest COLA info says it is only $38 a month for SSDI . Higher Medicare premiums will affect many though.
