When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Ds's back pay check was released wed. Now I was told it was sent out then too. We live right near washington dc, where the payment office is. It's been 3 days and nothing. I hate our mail system here. Did it really go out wed when it was released or might it take longer? They say expect 5-10 business days. I think that's ridiculous! What makes them release the funds but not mail them out same day or next day?

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Disability checks are sent out depending on the last 2 numbers of your social security number. I don't remember exactly what went when but it was like....if the last 2 numbers are under 33, they went out on the first Wednesday of the month(always on Wednesday). Then 33-66 went out the second Wednesday and then 66-99 the 3rd Wednesday. It's divided like that so that the checks don't all go out the same time....I just don't remember when and which numbers but I am the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

All Social Security checks will be electronic by 2014 and go directly into a bank account. The safest way to currently get a check is through the same way...electronic deposit.....you get it the day it is released.

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Altho many ppl complain about the USPS, they are actually pretty good IMO at getting your mail to you. Where else on the planet can you mail a 1 0z letter for 44 cents anywhere in the US? If it was mailed out Wednesday, my experience with the post office is that you should get it no later than Monday. I would wait until then. Hopefully, it will come today (Saturday). This is why direct deposit via EFT is a superior way to issue payments IMO. You never have to worry about things getting lost in the mail or some careless post office worker putting your mail in the wrong box. Hang in there Alexandersmama. I think it will eventually show up.

Is this SSI or SSDI?

Unfortunately the gov't is VERY slow with anything they do,but once you get in the system AFTER approval it seems to run fine IMO.

If it is a monthly SSDI check.......it will come/or be deposited into your account on a Wednesday according to your birthday. Not sure of the actual breakdown though

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

* I still do not understand the SSI payment schedule. LOL Most SSI payments are on the 1st of the month. But, there are no SSI payments issued for the months of Oct. or Jan. and paid twice in April, Sept, and Dec. Plus, Beneficiaries receiving benefits prior to May 1997 or receiving both Social Security benefits and SSI payments are really screwball.

For SSDI>>>>>
Benefits Paid on Birth date on
Second Wednesday 1st – 10th
Third Wednesday 11th - 20th
Fourth Wednesday 21st - 31st

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

According to the payment calendar, I should get mine on the 4th Wedensday of the month.

But, it has been deposited on the 3rd of every month, since I have been getting it (14 months). If the 3rd falls on a weekend or holiday, it is deposited on the 1st or 2nd of the month.

Yeah, it is weird Gayle. I recall Mscat40 saying something similar. LOL They got mine right. It comes on the 4th Wednesday of every month. My mother gets her SS retirement check on the 3rd Wednesday and that is correct according to her birthday.

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Gayle, it looks like you and Mscat fall in the white square with black border category but I am still trying to make sense of why.

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Gayle,

Do you have children getting benefits? We get ours the 3rd of the month too (which doesn't coincide with the birthday thing either)

My theory is people who also get kids benefits get it on the 3rd.

Pup

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Yeah, I think you are right Pup. I was thinking the same thing. I know Mscat has a child getting benefits. There seems to be 5 categories.

No, my children are grown and do not get benefits. I am single - been divorced for many, many years - so I am not getting spouse benefits.

Re: When Do You Typically Receive Your Money?

Yeah Gayle..if the 3rd falls on a Sat, you get it on the 2nd (Friday) and if the 3rd falls on a Sunday, you get it on the 1st (Friday). I still wonder why yours is different tho?

Blue, I just don't know. There could be a reason I don't know about, or it is quite possible they made a (gasp ) mistake.
