After a 3 week wait I rec'd my fully favorable decision today from the ALJ. I applied for SSDI in 8/2010. Not such a long road compared to some of the horror stories i have read on this site. I pray for all of you who are struggling through this process. It is a huge drain mentally and physically. In the end it comes down to a roll of the dice...
.it's a bit hard for me to get excited due to my cardiac issues but I am very happy. My next challenge is dealing withthe lump sum payment which will go to the Ltd carrier. Is there anybody who has a Ltd policy which is offset by monthly ssdi? If so, can you provide me some guidance as to how you handled the taxes on the lump sum backpay? Was your ssdi lump sum taxed as ordinary income at the same rate...
Does anyone know where i can find out how long i am being approved for before ss reviews my case again? It was not included in the fully favorable decision letter....
When I got my award letter, it did say in the letter that I would be reviewed in seven years ... I am not sure why yours does not. Sorry, I can't help with the tax question, but I did want to say Congrats!

My wife and i were just sitting here discussing how stressed out and gray i have become since this whole ordeal started, not necessarily ssdi, but having to give up a career that itruly loved and had to do a complete 360 with my lifestyle....we both hope that this will be a stepping stone to a more relaxed me!
I truly feel for all the less fortunate people whohave to struggle through this process. There has to be a better way.
I sure agree Bigblueh20, It is a real bummer when you can't do what you are used to. But think of it like you said a steping stone try to stay postive about the whole thing somehow. It sometimes gets me real down but its up to me to try to keep postive and its hard sometimes.

Congradulations to you ! It must be a enormus relief to you their are a few people on here that can answer your question regarding LTD . Usually your award letter will tell you how long you will have until your first CDR. SInce it did not ask your Lawyer , or call social security.

Ditto what Gayle said. Mine was stated in the approval letter. How old are you bigblueh20 if you don't mind me asking? I recall egkenny I think saying his approval letter also did not state a CDR interval but he was over 60 years old I think and Slaughter commented that perhaps by the time they got to a CDR, he would be close to SSNRA. Congrats on the win btw. I missed this thread. I have not been feeling too good lately and posting just a few times per day now.
