My lawyer has been sending my info for an OTR decision. Since I first applied for disability, I have gone through the initial stage (denied), Recon (denied) and now OTR. It's been 2 1/2 years since the first stage!!!!
How long before a decision is made OTR? Any guesstimates would be appreciated. I'm so depressed. Am I to just wait for them to approve/deny the OTR? I'm worried this could take years. My lawyer hasn't mentioned scheduling a hearing with a judge.
OTR decisions can only result in fully favorable outcomes. If they can not approve you OTR, you are still waiting in line for a hearing to be scheduled before an ALJ to make the decision. The beauty of OTR is it allows you to jump to the front of the line and get approved more quickly. If your medical records are compelling, your doctor(s) supportive, and you have a good attorney, OTR is a real, likely possibility.

Hi Blue skies,
Thanks for your responses...I first applied for SSDI on 7/09 and was denied at the initial level. Then, I appealed at the Recon stage and was denied again. Now, my attorney is trying for OTR. I can't believe it's taken 2 1/2 years to go through 2 stages. It's ridiculous.

That is a long time, Scribe . hopefully you can get a OTR ! That would be the best thing for you ! i know it can take a while to get to the hearing stage , but usually people get there around a year in a half or 2, it depends on the number of people waiting , maybe in your area it is backlogged.
