I have applied for an absolute divorce in the state where i have lived forver, nc. well, the thing is me and my ex, soon to be has been in touch with my lawyer and told him he would sign the papers but... he doesn't have an id. okay, well he also gave him his address and paperwork was sent to that address that he gave. He failed to sign those papers. And a sheriffs deputy has also attemted to deliver them to this address. I meant to say those papers were senr by certified mail. If im not mistaken, can i still get my divorce? I hope so. I mean, i've tried every route but, not published it in the newspaper where he lives. maybe thats what i'll have to do. I actually got it for 135.00. That is if I dont have to spend more money to the newspaper co. I think sometimes people have to do that. But, even if i do it will be worth it. Can you guys believe this creep hasn't had an ID in 11 yrs. How do you not have an ID issued to you? He was alwqays wanted by the police for child support is why. If he went to go get his ID, he'd get picked up by police. If anyone has ever gotten an absolute divorce in nc, please let me know how it went. thanks so much..
I actually got my divorce thru North Carolina (i was actually living in the Spring Lake/Fayetteville area). According to my attorney at the time, you can still be granted a divorce even if your STBX doesn't sign the papers. The only catch is all possible measure must be taken for him to be served i.e. sherrif's deputy handing them to him personally, via certified mail and yes, even publishing it in the local paper(s). When all those steps have been taken, it's my understanding the courts will grant you the divorce.

It finally came in the mail!!! Im so happy. I think i'll take my best friend out tonite for a drink and dinner, you know to celebrate a little bit. I tell you something. After being married to an evil monster for so long 18years and being seperated for over 10yrs, it's such a great thing to now be divorced from him. I went back to using my madien name also. It gives me such a feeling of relief now. So sorry that it took sooo looong to do though. For a number of years I was told he didn't even live in the same state. I really didn't have the funds either. Actually, i thought it would cost me alot more than it did. i was really surprised at how cheap I got it. $135.00 plus the 5.00 fee that my notary charged me. WOW!! It is an absolute divorce. And nothing else was involved but a divorce. The hardest part I think was finding him to serve the papers.Im just glad im now a divorcee.
