I have no marketable skills, how could I ever leave?

Please help me here.
Divorce is always on my mind. I have not made any decisions one way or the other right now, but the thing is, I have no marketable skills to be able to work. I have been a SAHM the entire time I have been married.
So what does someone like me do? How would I be able to make it on my own with child(ren)?
I am really scared to even think about it.

I'm sort of in the same boat, but supposedly there are scholarships that cover bills and living expenses while you are in school. It's a scary jump and I know I'm not even sure I want to make it yet either. I have been out of the work force for over 6 years. Fortunately you can get thru some trade programs, like ultrasound tech, dental assistant in less than a year. Start looking into it and also your local labor commision. They offer scholarships and help with lots of stuff in getting a job. Best of luck to you! Anyone can be independent, you just need to get the ball rolling! Also, keep your support system close to you. They will help get you through it.

If you are a mom- then one marketable skill is childcare . You could nanny, or work in a child care center or other related situation. Here in the USA, you don't really need major credentials to do those things- usually pass a background check and have some experience (depends who you work for). Also, if you cook for your kids, maybe you could look into working in a restaurant doing some cooking or other food service. Finally, if you know how to keep your house clean, how about getting into cleaning services? Just some suggestions. I know how you feel. While I was a SAHM, I was so dependent on my husband. A few times I felt I needed to possibly separate but did not because of not having my own resources. I decided while I was staying home to go back to school and get my teaching degree. It was hard, to say the least, but so worth it. Now I have my own income, and much more confidence.Good luck!
