Visiting from the GERD board (another issue I have). I have been having problems with ear fullness, dizziness/vertigo (especially when bending over), headaches (they come on out of nowhere and can be extremely painful, then go away as quickly as the came), ear ringing, etc. My ENT originally diagnosed me with a likely inner ear viral infection or a Eustacian Tube Disorder and recommended daily regiment of Psudefafed. Unfortunately, shortly after I saw him he died (no kidding) so I'm starting over with a new ENT on Wed.
I was wondering how common the above symptoms are with TMJ. I have had for as long as I can remember a clicking sound in my jaw, usually it only happens the very first time I open my jaw wide for the day. After that, it usually doesn't happen again. I don't know that the 2 are connected, but I haven't found any other disorder/disease that has all the symptoms I mentioned above other than TMJ, so I'd like to suggest that to my doctor when I see him on Wed.
Vertigo, dizziness, ear ringing or fullness, jaw clicking and headaches are are common symptoms of mild forms of tmj. Other than jaw clicking these symptoms can also be caused by high or low blood pressure or galloping BP - it goes up and down all day long - have you had that checked recently?
I have been to the doctor and ER for my GERD several times and have had my BP checked every time I've gone with no issues at all. Also had a stress test done about 1.5 years ago after a spell of chest pain that turned out to be a GERD attack. Checked out fine (albeit out of shape).
