Depersonalization/Vertigo/Depression...PLEASE PLEASE READ AND REPLY - Dizziness / Vertigo Message Board

Okay..So I'm not really sure where to start. But I will just blab hat I'm feeling and hopefully at least one person out there can relate to me. I have been suffering from anxiety for almost 2 years now. I'm taking zoloft..(im 18) and it was helping in the beginning ...but then about 4 months ago my anxiety started coming back really bad with symptoms I'v never had before..which then made me depressed because i was like..."great here we go again". Recently I'v been doing some research and all of my symptoms are clicking to depersonalization and derealization. Some of my symptoms are...Feeling really out of it..questioning reality..like..what is reality? Looking at myself in the mirror and thinking...i'm just this thing with arms and legs..i feel like my head is detached from my body. i dont know what makes me happy anymore. I feel like i'm just going day to day...feeling out of it..sad, tired, kinda like im in a dream. And also...Vertigo...For the past year..when I look at something.its like my eyes are moving..or like everything around that one thing is moving. I'v been to the eye doctor but he said there is nothing wrong. I'm wondering if this whole time it has been vertigo? Is that what its like? I guess I just need some reassurance. I feel like i'm going crazy!!!! I just want to feel like I used to!!

You probably should see an ear, nose, throat specialist (ENT) to check into the dizziness/vertigo. I suffered from vertigo for about three months - it is the sensation of things spinning around in the room. Even after the worst of it was gone, I could not go into a large area (like a store) with all the fluorescent lights, etc., or I would feel like a was going to faint. Most of it is gone now but it has left me with a lot of anxiety. Did you explain your problem to your doctor? Maybe you need something for your anxiety. Good luck. Sorry you are feeling so bad, but you need to get some help with it.

Depersonalization is part of the anxiety. I would go into a store or mall and feel like I was having an out of body experience. Did not feel like my soul and senses were connected to my body. I have been taking Ativan for the past two years and have not had any bad symptoms of anxiety or panic attacks in two years.

Doctors say these antidepressants help anxiety but I get more help by using benzodiazepines. Klonopin is a newer benzo. While I was in the hospital, a lot of patients were taking this drug and said it works for their anxiety. Best wishes.

I could have written your post myself! It explains exactly how I have been feeling.

However, it has made me start obsessing about turning schziophrenic. Its my biggest fear!

love klonopin... xanax is better just only wish it lasted as long as klon.
