Dizziness caused by vertigo, sinus, or anxiety?

I am 26yr old female, About 6yrs ago I began having really bad anxiety, I was on zoloft for 3 yrs. Since then I have had 2 kids. When I got prego with #2 I decided to wheen myself off zoloft and I did. I havent really had anxiety since then, except for the birth control I take causes me to feel anxious more often. Lately I have been having a weird dizzy feeling (I used to have it when I had anxiety really bad). It is a feeling like I am moving. I know vertigo says that you feel like the room is spinning, mine feels like i am spinning or moving a certain direction today. It happened today while I was sitting at a red light, I kept pressing down very hard on the brake to be sure I was not rolling forward. I dont notice the dizziness as often when my husband is home with me or when I am busy. I am not sure if I am causing this dizziness by my anxiety getting out of control or if it could be related to my sinuses, I did have a cold a week ago and I have major pressure in my head. I dont know how sinus dizziness feels though. This dizziness I feel in my eyes, ears, and head, it is weird. I am also about to start my period, and I use the nuva ring, it gives me backache and mood swings right before my period, could it be the nuvaring? help

going through very similar. Im just recovering from a bad bout of sinus pressure/infection but this has led to general anxiety. I think its a mixed bag, i definately got dizzy feelings with the sinitus, as ears were blocked constantly. Also have that feeling in the car; its like your head is moving involuntary. Then this starts off panick. I honestly think both cause a form of dizziness and your doc may blame the anxiety alone.

Re: Dizziness caused by vertigo, sinus, or anxiety?

You actually may want to check out your birth control. I get vertigo from panic disorder, but I tried to switch birth control a few months back and got really horrible vertigo for a few weeks and then had to switch back to the BC I was taking before. Sometimes small changes, esp. with hormones, cause dizziness. Sinus issues can cause that too so it could be anything, but I definitely have see the link between vertigo and birth control before.

Re: Dizziness caused by vertigo, sinus, or anxiety?

I have had bad experiences with almost every birth control method. I was on depo for 6 years and it was fine until I moved out of my parents house at 18 and began having the worst anxiety ever. I blame it on the birth control horomones because once I stopped depo, the anxiety went away. Both pregnancies I had no b/c and I also had no anxiety. Now I am back on the nuva ring (Ive tried ortho, yaz, etc.) and once again I do feel the anxiety coming back. I really do thing the dizziness is anxiety related though, I only notice it when I think about it, like the second I think "wow im not dizzy" it hits me again. Wish there were some kind of birth control that would work for me so I can get rid of this horomone anxiety!

Have the doctor check your ferritin levels. THis is to check for iron deficiency this will not show up in a cbc. Since you just had a baby it is common for women to be iron deficient which can cause dizziness tiredness, hair shedding among others. Talk to your doc about it.

I had/have exactly what you describe, particularly the thing at stop-lights and not experiencing it when with a "shopping buddy". For me it was pure anxiety disorder and nothing medical.

Best of luck to you.
