Hi, I am a 21 year old college student. This past summer after recovering from a stomach virus I got symptoms of vertigo which lasted about 3 months. I had feelings as if the floor was jumping under me, and whenever I woud turn my head left or right, or look up and down, my symptoms worsened. These feelings were constant until they faded. My ENT diagnosed me with Vestibular Neuritis and said to just wait it out.
My symptoms went away from August 2010, and just last weekend (Oct 30) they came back. Weeks before my vertigo came back I was suffering from horrible pounding headaches. I saw my ENT again last week and he said that I have "Migraine Associated Vertigo". He gave me a med called Treximet that he said would completely get rid of my dizziness as soon as I took it. Well, it didn't work so he then prescribed me a low dose of Diazepam (valium) to take 3 times a day and that didn't work either. I am now taking Imitrex and that is not doing anything for me either.
I have had these symptoms for about a week now and I am aware that these medicines are usually preventatives. Does anyone here know about this condition or have it? And is there another med out there that could get rid of my vertigo? Also how long do these symptoms typically last for the averege person? I'm scared. I am in school now and I have had to miss classes and exams because of this.
