Dizzy when i lay down???

Everytime i lay down I get really dizzy like the room is spinning round and round... after a few minutes it stops but for those few minutes i feel like i am going to throw up... Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be caused by?

Re: Dizzy when i lay down???

I have had this a couple of times and it is the crystals in your ears that have gotten loose. If you go to a ear/nose and throat man he will do a procedure that will help. My general doctor told me that he saw five cases of it in the office just last month! Oh, the ear/nose and throat man will be able to tell you if it is the crystals the minute you put your head back because your eyes should look funny to him. Look up bvvp on the internet.

Did you have a problem with any of your inner ears. If yes that's the cause. Because i have the same spinning feelings everytime i lay down, and i had problem with one of my ears.

Re: Dizzy when i lay down???

To answer your question: I have NEVER had a problem with my inner ears and I used to swim a mile a day years ago, BUT that does not mean anything. The dizziness that I explained to you is caused by the inner ear and the dr. told me that no one knows why he or she gets it. You could have bumped yourself and rattled those crystals, but the good thing is is that it can be corrected and very easily. Good luck!

Re: Dizzy when i lay down???

You have a classic case of BPPV, most likely of the posterior semicircular canal. You need to first diagnose the symptomatic side with the Hallpike Dix Maneuver, and then treat the symptomatic ear with the Epley maneuver.

So you have Labyrinthitis shadowed by a case of BPPV, this is quite common. Has the particle repositioning maneuver helped to relieve your dizziness?
