Hi, this is my first time on HealthBoards and my first post, so please bear with me!
For the past few months now I have been experiencing severe diziness when standing up. It doesn't seem to matter if I am sleeping, sitting, laying down, or doing push-ups, it always happens! Sometimes it is very slight, but more often than not it is so bad I fall over. What happens is when I stand up,
-all I can see is white and black flashing everywhere, which gradually clears out to wavy gray and then normal color
-My equilibrium is all out of whack and I feel like the floor is uneven (and moving)
-I feel extremely sick to my stomach but never throw up.
I really need this to stop because I look weird and I could hurt myself. I have fallen over and hit myself on objects before.
What is happening, and why?
Thank You
Wendy M
**Also, it doesn't matter the length of my sitting/laying down.**

Reason: forgot
So this only happens when you stand up fast? Otherwise you have no symptoms?
All the symptoms sound like a drop in blood pressure, which is pretty normal. But the nausea is rather odd, it doesnt really fit into this typical scenario.
I think it would be beneficial to see a physician for an exam, and consider a referral to a specialist, depending on the origin of the symptoms.
I am seeking for the same post. I feel the same. In my case it is not happening only when i stand up but also when i am sitting and doing my work. People says it is because of weakness and may be they are right. So please if there is something else i am waiting for your answer.
It does sound like low blood pressure to me (but I am the furthest thing from a dr!). I had it when I was pregnant and also at the beginning of an inner ear disorder. I would talk to my dr if I were you, as it sounds like it is really interfering with your regular life. My dr recommended upping my consumption of salt, as I don't eat much of it. Make sure you aren't dehydrated, as well. But as you drink more water, you prob need more salt. Gatorade type drinks are good, because they re-hydrate you but have the salts, too. For sure, I would see your dr, though, and get him to test your blood pressure. See what he says!
