Back... again.

Dizziness since March 2011, 22 year old male.

Had ear surgery in September 2011 to seal hole in ear drum. Was discharged from the hospital completely this month, February 2012. I was told by my surgeon that I now have a completely normal and healthy ear drum.

I was hoping that would get rid of my dizziness but that has not been the case.

Late last year I stopped drinking completely for 13 weeks to see if that would help but no. Still felt exactly the same.

Had numerous blood tests only to show that I have a mild case of Neutropenia (low white blood cells) that is most probably not life threatening (yet).

My GP has looked into my eyes and said there is no pressure but my vision seems weird, literally feels as if I am a bit tipsy or walking round in a day dream. Quite difficult to explain.

I have been given vertigo tablets in the past and took them for about 3 weeks. While taking them I suffered shocking headaches so I stopped taking them. I still do get headaches everyday and my eyes feel as if they are sticking... they also look tired all the time.

Just in one of those moods where I can't be bothered with this garbage anymore. Almost 1 year of dizziness, 1 surgery, multiple doctor appointments and no result.

This is making me not want to get a job because i cannot focus on anything. I wake up everyday just thinking wow, another day of this.

I am miserable. Everyday I am reminded that something is not right.

I don't really know what I am looking for people to say to me on here...

I think damage may have been done to my brain some how or that I have a tumor or something. I don't know what to make of it. The doctors haven't mentioned anything to do with my brain. I've had an ECG that came back normal and wore a heart monitor for 5 days straight, which also came back normal...( I was complaining of chest pains in my upper left chest, was most probably anxiety due to me not knowing what was wrong with my vision/dizziness/headaches)

You guys probably don't have an answer but it makes it a little easier knowing I can post my stresses to a site like this.

Re: Back... again.

I'm not a doctor and I don't pretend to be but I'm wondering if you can clarify a few things.

1) Do you have this feeling all the time or does it come and go? When do you notice it the most? Is there anytime where it seems to be improved?
2) Do you feel as though you are rocking, swaying or falling over? Do you feel this while sitting, standing, walking, all three?
3) Would you describe it as a feeling of disequilibrium or being off balance?
4) Would you describe it as a feeling of spaciness, floating, swimming, wooziness, drunkenness?
5) Does the feeling go away when you drive a car?
6) Do you get dizzy to the point of feeling nauseated?
7) Does the room/world seem to spin violently around you?
8) Are you sensitive to any particular type of position or movement?
9) Do your ears feel/sound full or underwater?
10) Do you have ringing in the ears?
11) Do you have any noticeable hearing loss?
12) Do you have poor posture? Do you have pain, soreness, stiffness, or tight muscles in the upper back, shoulders, neck, and/or jaw?
13) Do you know if this problem started in relation to any sort of event such as painting overhead, going to the dentist, blowing your nose, flying in an airplane, diving, flu or cold, etc?
14) Did you ever have head trauma or were you ever in a car or sports accident?
15) During your headaches, are you sensitive to light or sound? Does your vision narrow or go black in either or your eyes?
16) Do you feel this way when you lay down? Are you able to sleep without a problem?

Re: Back... again.

1) Do you have this feeling all the time or does it come and go? When do you notice it the most? Is there anytime where it seems to be improved?

I have this feeling nearly all the time. It feels slightly better when I have had a good night sleep and eaten normally. When I am attempting to sleep I feel ok.

2) Do you feel as though you are rocking, swaying or falling over? Do you feel this while sitting, standing, walking, all three?

My head can feel light and heavy. No swaying etc. Can pretty much do everything normally but the feeling in my head is very noticeable. Daily headaches and tired/dry/sore eyes. (Spend a lot of time staring at monitors/TV's.) I feel the same no matter what position I am in.

3) Would you describe it as a feeling of disequilibrium or being off balance?

I feel like my head is balancing on a pole at times, loose head. Kind of off balance.

4) Would you describe it as a feeling of spaciness, floating, swimming, wooziness, drunkenness?

I feel tired a lot (no exercise or healthy eating) I definately feel spaced out. I feel as if I could stare at nothing for a lifetime and not get bored. My vision seems to be stuck in a daydream that I can't snap out of but can function normally... very strange.

5) Does the feeling go away when you drive a car?

I don't drive but when being in a car I don't feel any better or worse.

6) Do you get dizzy to the point of feeling nauseated?

Nope

7) Does the room/world seem to spin violently around you?

Nope

8) Are you sensitive to any particular type of position or movement?

If I look upwards it feels as if my head is falling kind of, I can feel all the blood rushing through my brain... that's what it feels like anyway. Also If I hang my head downwards reaching for something, when I stand back to normal stance my head feels weird. Rush of blood feeling and slightly off balance.

9) Do your ears feel/sound full or underwater?

Had surgery on my ear nearly 6 months ago so, I can't really answer that one.

Ears feels fine.

10) Do you have ringing in the ears?

Yeah, I've had problems with my ears a few times concerning the ear drums but I have seen a vestibular specialist (guy who did the surgery) and he said the are both fine. Healthy ears now.

11) Do you have any noticeable hearing loss?

Only in my right ear. It's been hammered with infections over the past 2/3 years. It's always been the weaker ear (had surgery on that one)

12) Do you have poor posture? Do you have pain, soreness, stiffness, or tight muscles in the upper back, shoulders, neck, and/or jaw?

Yes, very poor. Current mattress of my bed is broken . I sit in awkward positions that I find comfortable at the time. Back pain, chest pain, collarbone cracking, neck/spine cracking. Sore upper back muscle, tender left chest muscle. List goes on.

13) Do you know if this problem started in relation to any sort of event such as painting overhead, going to the dentist, blowing your nose, flying in an airplane, diving, flu or cold, etc?

Was really sick in December 2010 (worst ever, was in bed for 3 weeks) seemed like bad flu. That went away mid January, then I had tonsilitus for a week... after that I was fine up until March. I woke up after a night of drinking with my friend to find I still felt drunk, kind of been that way ever since. Just that I am getting used to the feeling.

14) Did you ever have head trauma or were you ever in a car or sports accident?

Nope, hit my head on a door pretty hard like 9 years ago but never had any problems.

15) During your headaches, are you sensitive to light or sound? Does your vision narrow or go black in either or your eyes?

Headaches seem to appear at random on any side of my head, can sometimes be short and sharp or long and pressuring. Eyes are feeling and looking tired nearly all the time, they also have a yellowing to them on the under neath of the eyeball. If I pull my eyelid down you can see a tint of yellow on the under side.

16) Do you feel this way when you lay down? Are you able to sleep without a problem?

It doesn't feel as bad when I lay down. My head basically feels like a fishbowel filled with water, swishing about now and again. I sleep fine, I used to feel as if I was falling a fe month ago but that seems to have diminished.

Sorry if my answers seem inconsistent, more information popped into my head as I wrote... Maybe it's Lyme's disease or a brain tumor... Negative minded to say the least.
