constant lightheadedness and constipation

Hello,

So I have been having this problem for the last 5 months now.
It all started on a work trip. I got really nauceous and then became really lightheaded. I thought it was just a stomachvirus and thought it would go away. It has not. I wake up every morning feeling light headed and nauceous. Since then I have also been constipated to the point where I cant go unless I use a laxative. I have also been having this bad pain on my left side. the pain is sharp and random throughout the day.
I have been to countless doctors and ran through multiple tests with no diagnosis.
I have had a ultrasound of the abdomen, tests were negative.
I have had x rays of the abdomen area everything looked good except excessive stool which I was told to take a laxative for.
I have had a ct scan of my abdomen which was also negative.
I was told this was anxiety related so I was put on a anti anxiety medication. After taking this for a month or so, I noticed none of my symptoms were getting any better and I was starting to get addicted, so i slowly worked my way off of them over the course of a month.
I was then told I may have ulcers so I was prescibed prilosec. I used this for a while but it did not cure my lightheadedness or nausea. I used the recommended 14 day cycle and then quit as it did not help.
I was then given zofran for the nausea which did help but I was still left with the lightheadedness.
I wake up with this everyday and nothing i do seems to help it go away. I have tried changing eating habits, tried drinking more fluids, tried getting more excersize, tried meclazine for vertigo and nothing seems to help.
This is affecting my job, my day to day life and all the responsibilities I have.
It is now going on 5 months with no end in sight.
I have an appointment with a GI doctor to check for IBS, crohns ect. Will let you know what I find from that.
My next step after the GI is to get a CT scan and an MRI of the head and neck to see if it may be a pinched nerve or something misaligned or possible tumor. Lets hope not!
I have read many other posts on here with people having the same issues. I hope someone can make a recommendation for me as I am out of ideas and will probably loose my job soon due to missed days.
I also passed out the other day. I think it was due to dehydration because of the laxatives I have been taking for cronic constipation.
I temporarily lost my vision, my hearing, and my whole body went numb. I got really bad sweats and changes in vision. I though I had a heart attack or a stroke, but that was later rulled out by an EKG and neurology tests at the ER. Well if nothing is found from the GI or ct scan or MRI I am pretty much going to try natural remedies to see if they have anything for me to try.

Re: constant lightheadedness and constipation

I am most interested to hear an update from Alwaysick, the person who started this post < have things improved? Do you have an update on how (naturally or did you find a cause that could be treated?

Wow - what a relief to come across this post (misery loves company!).

What Alwaysick above has described is exactly my symptoms (although I have not passed out - yet). I have been to a doctor and specialist... I have had blood work done (all normal except slightly low B12). I have had an MRI of the head (all clear). I have had an endoscopy and gastroscopy - all clear.

I am now seeing a chiropractor (just started, I am very sceptical so far... but I will persist for a little while - I have tried everything else so why not!).

My symptoms usually involve an upset stomach, with constipation and lightheadedness < its actually this lightheadedness that annoys/worries me the most. I find it gets worst whilst I am trying to go to sleep, the deeper I start to fall into a sleep, the more severe the lightheadedness gets to the point that it completely startles me and I fully wake up. This has been going on since December 2012 (3+ months now - it did start to improve recently but I found I have relapsed - I am unable to establish any trigger < believe me I have been searching).

I have changed my diet (for the better) and walk at least 20 mins a day. I am a smoker (about a pack a day). I am most interested in hearing from anyone that can offer any insight into this condition.

Thanks and hopeful that someone can shed some light on this.

Do you have allergies or sinus because maybe you have fluid on your ear. Try sudafed and see if it helps. Also I chew some ginger candies I bought at a whole food stores. I know how you feel I been having lightheaded problems for 5 mos I can't tell if it is from anxiety or ear
