Feeding Problems with Down Syndrome

My grandson is 3 months old. He should be taking 2.5 ozs of formula at each feeding. He usually takes only about 1 oz at each feeding. He has a NG tube and the remaining formula is put into the tube. He uses the Haberman feeder, but has the gag issue, and does not suck. Any suggestions.

Re: Feeding Problems with Down Syndrome

Hi,
They waned to used the tube feeding method with my son, it didn't work to good. What I did was I did bottle feed him, I would tickle his check real lightly and then he would suck, I kept doing that and eventually I didn't have to do that any more, he drank from his bottle. If he has no medical reason to be tube feed, I would try it, it worked for us.
