Seizures

adaHi, I am a new member here. My son, Austin, is Down Syndrome. Last week he had a seizure for the first time at 8 years old. He was at school when it happened and it scared me half to death. He is scheduled for an EEG and a CT Scan on 3/1/2006. If anyone knows if this is common for children with Down Syndrome, please let me know. I am really concerned because of all of the children that I know with Down Syndrome, he is the only one who has had a seizure. Thanks, Amber

Re: Seizures

Amber... I'm not aware of a connection...but often, our kids have secondary problems that do correlate some way to the Down's. My son has a bowel disease that they say children with Down's are at a higher rate to have. I just wanted to respond, I hope he's well, and that the testing goes well...hopefully it was just a fluke!!

Re: Seizures

Hi My Grandson started with Seizures at the age of 10 he is now 23 and has been on two kinds of medication since, He still has seizures but the medication controls them most of the time, it certainly hasnt interfered with his life style sports, programs etc. Hope this has helped you.

Re: Seizures

Hey everyone,

I did get an update from Austin's Doctor. His CT Scan came back normal, but we haven't gotten the results from the EEG yet. I hope it comes back normal too. Thanks for your replys! -AMBER
