Was curious if anyone else might have encountered Nystagmus(jittery eyes) in Down's kids,our little one has it but luckily it mostly occurs when looking to the sides,and not straight ahead were her main focus and cocentration on objects are,or something to that effect as the pediatric opthomalogist puts it.Also as far as glasses has anyone seen the special ones for kids
that are made for the very low nose bridge,our early edu.therapist came from Calif. and they have them down there but seem to not made it up to the N.W. yet,dont need them yet,but just in case.

Our daughter has Nystagmus as well, though she has found a way to compensate for this on her own. She just shifts her head slightly to the side and is able to stabilize. She also has one eye that turns in when she is fatigued, so she does have glasses to correct that. We had a hard time finding ones that fit, so we ended up with ordinary wire frames and just bent the nose pieces. She is only 2, and really doesn't like wearing them, but we are coping.

My daughter is only 5 months old and she seems to have jittery eyes. I have noticed it for awhile - but we had her eyes examined 2 months ago and the doctor dismissed it as a newborn thing - just like a weak eye muscles. How old do they have to be to be diagnosed with this? How can it be fixed? She seems to not be able to lock on to our stare at anything without her little eyes shaking very quickly back and forth. Does that sound like Nystrambus?
any information you could give me would be great.

We just had her 1 year eye check and the doctor even noticed the her shaking is less severe,tho you can still see it.I believe it is alot of muscle control that they lack early on, but she will always have it.Hopefully you have a Pediatric Opthomaligist that enjoys kids,the first one we used made her work for him versus working with her,here's his web site and he has all sorts of links to different vision sites.
