| Re: 5 year old daughter with D/S and Alopacia
I would recommend running, not walking, to an endrocronologist. Thyroid issues are predominant in DS. From what I understand, Alopecia is an autoimmune deficiency and I am not sure what they can do for it, if anything. However, with having DS and Alopecia, she needs a good doctor that will monitor her closely. There is also good information out there regarding herbal supplements that should be given to DS children/adults. I need to get the info from my sister and post-it. There was extensive research done in Canada and vitamin deficiency in DS. Anyway, my point is get a good doctor. Anytime you deal with the autoimmune system there is always a likelihood other autoimmune issues may present themselves down the line. I know this because I have Hashimoto and Addison's Disease. Good Luck!
