Hi,
My name is jae. we had 2 beautiful daughters, 3y.o and 11month. our 11mon baby is diagnosed with DS. She is also 2months premature, Heart defects (ASD, PDA and VSD), BPD (premature lungs),GERD(reflux) and hearing impaired, both ears. she had her ASD repair and PDA ligation when she was 4months old. By God's grace, she is doing well, still on oxygen 24/7 and is on pediasure since she wasn't gaining weight. She is wearing a BAHA hearing aide both ears. She is also very constipated. Any advise on the constipation?I have heard about this formulated vitamins ideally for DS children. Anyone here have good or bad experience with it?
thanks.

Wow - your little one has been through a lot. My daughter, Chloe - who is now 19 months old has also had trouble with constipation. She would just cry and cry when going to the bathroom. Increasing fluids seemed to help. Apple juice seems to work - if she is ready for that. Doctor recommended adding corn syrup to juice/formula - but personally I think it upset her stomach. He finally prescribed a liquid medication to be added to her juice called Lactulose. It definetly loosened her stools and helps when I give it to her daily. Maybe it is worth a try!

My daughter, who's 5 now, drank pediasure for almost 2 years because of eating problems. She was also constipated--still is--and has been using Miralax for years. My daughter's GI prescribed it.

My 11 year old dtr with DS has been chronically constipated until 2 months ago. She is now on a gluten and dairy free diet and finally the intestines are working. She also has severe reflux, needs to have her fundo surgery re done and has crohns. Continues to have problems but the constipation is better with diet, added fiber and H2O.
