Question Could down syndrome be missed?
My sister's child is otherwise healthy but has epicanthal folds around his eyes, he is 10 months old are we are just wondering if down's syndrome can be missed at birth/

My daughter was 3 months old before the doctors found that she had Down Syndrome. She saw several different doctors for heart related problems but they didn't find it until I took her to her three month check up and they saw that she wasn't doing the things that 3 month olds normally do. Then they ran the test to check for Down Syndrome and it came back positive.
