Reglan.... - Drug Interactions / Side Effects Message Board

I was in the E.R. last week and the dr. prescribed me Reglan thru I.V. for an upset stomach. Well, I knew there was a medication that I was allergic too but I couldn't put my name on it. I told the nurse that I thought it might be Reglan but she reassured me that she has never heard of anyone being allergic to this drug nor have the reaction that I described. I told her I get very "antsy" and I can't sit still. I feel like my legs and arms are coming off. I just feel like I have to get up and walk/run. So, deciding that she is the nurse and she knows more about medications than I do, I let her administer the drug. Not 10 mins after she gives it to me...I get the same reaction. I told her it happened again but she didn't do anything about it so I just layed there and waited the feeling out. Is this normal from Reglan or is it a reaction? What type of reaction is this?

The nurse was an idiot. And if you also told your doctor the same thing, he was being reckless in my opinion. Reglan indeed can cause the reaction you describe.

It's called "motor restlessness" and may consist of feelings of anxiety, agitation, jitteriness, and insomnia, as well as inability to sit still. Some people find themselves pacing and foot tapping! etc.

Please call your doctor and report your reaction.It should go into your medical records and by law he/she must report any adverse "event" to the pharmaceutical companies. (A lot of doctors hate to do this because it involves an enormous amount of paper work and it's time consuming, but nevertheless they should do it!).

Good reason to carry some type of record of allergies with you.

Just wanted to say that reglan does the same thing to me. There is another anti-nausea medicine that does it to me also. My husband can't have compazine for the same reason. Reglan also gives me diarrhea. Phenergan for nausea is okay, not quite as bad.

Luv...I did some researching on the net about this and I don't know how much stock you would want to put into this but...I found that that type of reaction that you and I experience with this drug often occurs in patients with Restless Leg Syndrome.

I experience symptoms of RLS once every few months so I don't know if that is actually what I have or not. Just something I wanted to pass on
