Help: Lortab, Ultram, and Ritalin LA.... - Drug Interactions / Side Effects Message Board

I need some advice. I have been on Lortab 7.5 for 5 months for a neck injury and I'm taking it 3 to 4 times a day. I decided I was ready to stop and try Ultram. I am scared of Lortab withdraw. Just this week I was diagnosed with ADHD and my psychiatrist prescribed Ritalin LA (extended release Ritalin). I want to take the Ritalin but I am saposed to be looking for side effects and if I am having withdraw from Lortab how will I know "what is causing what". I would like to try the Ritalin with no medication however my pain is pretty bad so I feel I will have to take something. I have talked to my Dr. and he says I should not have withdraws if I switch to the Ultram. Is this true? I have not tried the Ultram yet. How long should I be off the Lortab before I take the Ritalin and can Ritalin be taken with Ultram? PLEASE HELP!

I would talk to your doctor who is prescribing the ritalin and tell her exactly what you just wrote in your post. They will be able to help with tapering you off how much to take each day and how much. I have had medicine changes quite a few times with differint medicine that I am on and they will tell you how to do it. Hope this helps it helped me.

My pharmacist said I can not take Ritalin with Ultram because there is a risk of seizure but that Lortab is okay to take with it! I called my pain managment doctor and he said well I am not going to prescribe you anymore Lortab since you said you don't want it. He said you will just have to tough it out or get injections in your spine!!! So now I am in the process of finding another pain managment doctor. THERE IS NO WAY I WILL LET HIM INJECT MY SPINE!
