You know, I have traveled all over the world and have needed to refill my prescription in many other countries besides our own. I have had the honor of meeting many wonderful doctors, and some that weren't, in many wonderful countries. All of them asked me how long I had been on the anti-D I was taking and were shocked at my answer. What was relatively consistent throughout was their criticism of American doctors and patients for depending on drugs for their mental heath needs. A few select doctors criticized drug companies for being responsible Our state of affairs. You know, in most other continents around the world most doctors REFUSE to prescribe andti-D's for prolonged periods of time. They often see this class of drugs as having temporary therapeutic value ONLY. I agree. Especially now.

I fully recognize the existence of the truly mentally ill.
I am Not saying there are not many people across the world with very real diseases of the central nervous system who must be on a daily regimen of psychotropic medication.
Am I amongst that population? Some say I am.
But do I also recognize many whose mental illness is terrifically exacerbated by drug “therapy”? Absolutely.

Two years ago I lost a friend to Bipolar Disease. She died of a heart attack, alone as an inpatient in the psychiatric ward in NYC. She was young, incredibly intelligent, very talented, and very beautiful. I have two more friends who are currently holding on as tightly as they can to survive their disease while they continue to explore drug therapy. But it is absolute torture. Even without withdrawl and discontinuation syndromes they experience many and/or all and/or more of the symptoms I have listed in previous posts. They, and I, have also experienced cruel exacerbation of our symptoms including manic episodes which have manifested itself in the form of dismembering and/or disfiguring ourselves with our bear hands and/or sharp objects. Now, tell me, how is this therapeutic?

I am currently seriously looking into Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy along with other methods for my mental heath needs to change the chemistry of my brain, so as to no longer depend on the poisons our psychiatrists love to give us with little knowledge of what exactly it is they give us and the long-term damage it Will cause, be it physical or psychological (I am floored by those of you who choose to argue against this point with all the growing credible documented medical evidence supporting it).[Really, who out there can honestly tell me they know their doctor is up at night reading all the latest Publicly Published Research on drug therapy before they prescribe those free samples they just got. No, many of them are sold by the reps who visit them from the companies. It's not conspiracy. It's fact. Unless you are a Neurologist I am uninterested in allowing you to play with my brain chemistry]. But I don’t really know what I’m looking for…or what I am looking at. This is all new territory for me. So, it is a slow and tenuous process.

It is my dream to live DRUG-FREE.
