I have a pill stuck in my throat for 2 days now!

I think I have a condition called ESOPHAGEAL INJURY PILL INDUCED! An injury caused by taking medicine in pill form getting stuck on the esphagus! Has anyone experienced this!? Got any advise....

MY symptoms....

It is lodged on the right side approximately the same depth as my ear drum is located. It hurts when I drink or swallow food. It's more of a nusiance throughout the day; however the pain seems to be getting more frequent. Maybe the pill is dissolving & starting to irritate the lining. That's bad cause it hurts; but a good thing if it's finally dissolving.

I have tried to drink lots of fluids. I have tried to stick my finger down & get it, I tried to make myself vomit(bad idea), I have tried to cough it out (ouch) I have eaten all types of food. I heard yogart will help to dissolve it (no proof working yet) milk is soothing.

Does anyone have any self help suggestions on how to get this pill lodged in my throat to go down where it belongs?

I called a local clinic & was told I would have to go to the emergency room to get it taken it out; if it did not dissolve on its own. She said it probally would. I was going to wait until it went on down on its own. Is this ok or should I seek professional help now? How long should I wait? How long do most capsule pills take to dissolve in the throat?

I am surprised it has not dissolved already. I would pretty much do what the clinic said, if it is bothersome go to the ER if it is liveable wait til it dissolves

Hi, I've never heard of a pill being stuck for 2 days. I often get a pill stuck and I take several spoons of apple sauce to help it slide down. If I were you, I'd definetly go to the ER. Maybe it's not a pill.

just what type of med is it,or the name of the drug you took?that can make a huge difference in whether or not this will actually dissolve completely,it all depends on just what is in it and whether or not it is even made to dissolve completely.i would most definitely go to the ER and have this removed,if it has caustic type of properties,it could be actually burning a small hole in your throat,i really would not mess around with this and just go and get it out.good luck and i hope there isn't any permanent damage.please let us know.FB

Even though this has been up a few days, I'll add my (actually, someone else's) $0.02:

I once read somewhere that if a pill should happen to get stuck in your throat, eating a piece of bread would dislodge it. I have found this remedy to be extremely effective, even when I take pills with applesauce they sometimes get stuck, but IMHO, applesause is the best medium to get a pill down.

I wouldnt have thought with the strong acids we naturally produe in our mouths that this is an undisolved pill, maybe the pill scratched when it got stuck and has left a small cut which feels lumpy, but i would go get a Doctor to look and see what it is, dont leave it.
