Anafranil / Clomipramine - Drug Interactions / Side Effects Message Board

My psychiatrist put me on 25 mgs of Anafranil (Clomipraminen) in April for OCD. While the meds greatly helped with the OCD they had a lot of negative side effects. I continued with the dosage and my body has adapted to most of the side effects. Now my doctor wants to up the dosage to 50 mgs. I'm a little nervous because I know the side effects of this medication can be severe. Does anybody have experience with this medication, or more specifically, what reaction can I expect from 50 mgs?

I used to be on 150mg at one time.

The major side-effect I had was difficulty starting to pass urine! I also had a dry mouth, but had a spray for that.

Thanks! When I went on the 25 mgs I had the following symptoms: Major dry mouth, some constipation, light headedness when standing up (to the point of dizziness), decreased appetite, weight loss, and I passed out a couple of times. Over a year later I only have low appetite and occassional dry mouth, but you can see why I'm a little nervous about increasing the dosage. I don't want the side effects to return.
