Effexor XR 300mg?

I was on 225 mg of Effexor XR for 8 years and was doing great on it. Then I became pregnant and got severely depressed and anxious again. I wanted my medicine to be raised to 300mg of the XR (extended release) but my doc said he can't prescribe it in that dose. I know it doesn't come like that, but can't I just take 2 150mg pills a day? I am taking the regular and it gives me ups and downs unless I take it at exactly 8 hours apart which is hard. Also, the regular version seems to be giving me a lot of restlessness when I never had that problem on the XR. Anyone know if it is okay to be on the 300mg XR? thanks.
