Lump behind ear, Hard and unmoveable

Maybe I'm overreacting. I stretched today, and rubbed behjind my ear, and felt a large lump behind on of them. it's just below ear level, and starts where the jaw bone is. It's not a cyst- I've had those. This is the size of an almond, and hard. I can't move it around, it kind of hurts when I put pressure on it.

The reason I'm posting here- I just noticed it today, and wondering what it was, did a google search. When a ton of pages came up with cancer in the title, I got scared. After reading some more, it seems that its quite possibly just a bacterial infection. Am I overreacting? I dont want to run to the doctor if it turns out it'll disappear on its own in a day or two. Should I wait a couple days before going to see him?

I'm not sure if this could help, but you can look for info on glands.

parotid glands (near your ears)
submandibular glands (under your jaw)
sublingual glands (under your jaw near your chin).

Your parotid glands are near your ears. I'm not sure if that can help or not.
