Six weeks ago I had sinus surgery and the doctor also put tubes in my ears, just like they do for babies. I am fifty years old, and its rare for adults to require tubes, the doctor tells me.
I am completely over my congestion now, but my ears feel like they have ear plugs in them. I told the doctor they still feel full of fluid, but he says thay are completely clear. Now I'm wondering if what I am feeling is the tubes themselves. But I know they are very, very tiny. Has anyone out there gone through this? He can't explain why I am feeling this.

Did you have tubes inserted because of fluid in your ears? I'm getting over a bad cold and also have fluid in my ear. It's most uncomfortable, so I know what you're feeling. I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow.
My sinuses and ears were all infected. I had so much fluid in my ears that my eardrums were ready to rupture. I had hearing loss because of it. Five different antibiotics, including IVs, did not help. So yes, I had lots of infection in the ears. The tubes are not for draining -- thats the job of the eustachian tubes. The tubes are for allowing air, so says the doctor.
I don't think it's all that rare for adults to have tubes....I'm 32 & just had my right ear done with my adenoidectomy, and the left is getting done with my tonsillectomy in a couple weeks. My dad has tubes - he's had them done at least twice since age 40.
I don't feel anything in my ear where the tube is....I'm extremely happy with the results - I could hear again as soon as I woke up from surgery.
I just had tubes inserted one week ago following two months of fluid-filled ears following a cold. I am a 60-year-old female. I find the tubes somewhat uncomfortable. Moreover, I can hardly hear, and I am returning to the doctor tomorrow for a check. One ear is draining constantly and the other is dry and clogged again. Hope this turns out better soon!

I also have tubes in my ears and feel just like you. Ears feel stuffed and they crackle and I cannot hear well.I am so very emotionally upset over this whole thing I am making myself physically sick. All this because I flew with asinus infection and ear infection. I am also in my sixties.
