I am 23 years old and I am going to have my tonsils removed tomorrow morning. What foods outside of soup and popsicles can I have? Anyone have any other suggestions?
I go in on the 6th to get my tonsils out..but had my adenoids out a couple weeks ago. Jello, jello, jello...it's cool, smooth & soothing. My mom says there's some benefit for your blood as well with Jello.
Hope all goes well & I wish you a speedy recovery! Keep us posted.
Hi Buck and Molly, I am POD #6. Good luck. Nevermind foods, do you have your scripts for pain meds?? Tylenol with codeine is all well and good, but I have heard many people on this site using liquid vicodin. Seriously, if your doc will write for it, get it. I was feeling good POD 3 and 4, but boy, as soon as day 5 hit, the pain got worse. While I was getting along fine with just tylenol for those days, now I am using codeine and wishing I had something stronger.... Anyway, back to the question...
Ice pops, pudding, applesauce, jello, chicken soup with a lot of broth (I found that warm foods made my throat feel better...), noodles, mac and cheese, fudsicles, mashed potatoes. Some people say milk type foods make you phlegmmy. I think if you are dehydrated, anything will make you produce thicker phlegm. Just try to avoid becoming dehydrated.
Well, that's the list of what I've been eating. My favorites have been mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I am sick of jello.
I wish you luck. Stock up on movies. Plan on sleeping as much as possible. Just think, it'll all be over soon!
