I had a septoplasty and a turbinate reduction 4 weeks ago. Very useful in taking care of my sinus problems. I don't have any more sinus pain now, so very relieved on that. I didn't have any breathing problems to begin with, so I can't answer that. My insurance company did cover it, but I had been in and out of the Dr's twice a month for 6 months for sinus problems so that probably helped. To my knowledge, a septoplasty won't change the shape of your nose. It didn't change mine, but I suppose it could potentially change yours, depending on what they have to do to fix it. That would be a question for your Dr. Septoplasty's are done through the inside of the nose, so there won't be any visible scars. They'll all be on the inside of your nose.
