Got a weird questin....a little help please

So the past year or so I have been having TMJ problems and lately I have been having ear pressure and vertigo. A doctor that I talked to so that it could be a swallowing problem. He said that it is possible that when I swallow my tongue is hitting my teeth when it is not supposed to and this could be causing me problems. So lately I have been trying to pay attention to the way I swallow and I have notice something. When I swallow a lot of the times I pop my ears, kind of like you are clearing them when in a plane or underwater. Is this normal? Also, have any of you guys heard of the swallowing problem that I described? Thanks for any help
